Silks are a beautiful and ethereal art form made famous by Cirque du Soleil. Like pole, Silks are a challenging “vertical” workout that will tone, tighten and recruit every muscle in your body. You will lean to defy gravity as you climb, flip, wrap and drop in these gorgeous silk ribbons. You may want to run away and join the Circus with your new buff body and aerial dance skills!
Prerequisite: You must have passed your Beginner Skill Set test and have instructor permission to advance to Level 2 Silks to enroll in this class. You will learn new climbing methods, foot locks and sequences that will further your aerial foundation as you prepare for more advanced moves and sequences.
Prerequisite: You must have passed the Level 2 skill set proficiency test in order to enroll in this class. You continue to grow your aerial silks repertoire as you work with more dynamic movement in the air. Be prepared to work on inverting and drops!
Prerequisite: You must have passed the Level 3 skill set test to enroll in this class. Take your skills to the performance level, while you focus on drops, tricks and technique. Students are encouraged to bring creativity to their movement while being guided through advanced moves within the silks.
For students who have a solid grasp on basic aerial technique, Silks Technique & Variations will dig deeper into fabric theory so that students will not only know the “whats” but the “whys” behind the tricks they already know. This deeper understanding will lead the student to greater creativity, allowing them to begin sequencing movements, creating their own variations and transitions, and inventing their own tricks and style. Must be able to invert in the air and have instructor permission.
